TODAY’S TECH ALERT

If you drive a Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Chrysler, or Fiat, listen up. Their parent company, Stellantis, confirmed a major data breach that exposed customer information across North America.
The breach was tied to a hack of Stellantis’ Salesforce database. The hacker group ShinyHunters claimed responsibility. Hackers allegedly stole data from about 18 million customer records, including names, email addresses, and other contact details.
The breach was reported on September 23, 2025, and Stellantis says it has activated its incident-response protocols to investigate and contain the issue. The company confirmed the breach stemmed from a third-party service provider, showing how even large, trusted brands can be vulnerable when another system fails.
😱 The scary part
Hackers don’t just steal your information and walk away. They sell it to data brokers, shady middlemen who buy and trade your personal details every day.
Your full name, address, shopping habits, even your browsing history, get packaged into a “consumer profile” and sold for pennies. Once scammers get that data, they can create phishing emails and texts that look alarmingly real.
A fake message from your car dealer or your bank? That’s how it happens.
✅ What to do right now
Change your passwords for any accounts tied to your carmaker or online services. Make it strong and unique. No repeats, no variations of your dog’s name.
Use a password manager. Keeps your strong, unique logins organized for every site. No sticky notes needed.
Watch for phishing. If you get a text or email that feels “too on point,” it probably is. Don’t click. Go straight to the site instead.
Enable login and payment alerts. In your banking app, go to Settings > Alerts or Notifications and turn on Text and Email. Knowledge is power here.
🔒 My advice: Get backup
Once your information reaches the broker circuit, anyone with a credit card can buy it. That’s where Incogni comes in.
Incogni works for you to track down data brokers and delete your personal information. Plus, their team keeps an eye out for new leaks. Think of it as your digital cleanup crew, working quietly in the background while you get on with your life.
You can change passwords and tighten security, but until your data is removed from broker lists, you’re still at risk. Don’t wait for the dreaded “your account’s been compromised” email. Get protected now.
Incogni has sponsored my national radio show for years, but I was a customer long before that. I negotiated a special deal so you get 60% off with the promo code KIM60. I don’t earn a penny from it. I just want you to control your digital identity, not the scammers.
